Base station as mobile
Base station as mobile
Just for a topic but Could a guy use one of those super base stations as a mobile by adding a converter in to the truck.
Depends on what base station you were talking aboutl. I have the Galaxy DX 2517 which is a large metal case like the one bob won. Built in power supply etc. I have a power inverter in my truck and when you fire the inverter up you cant use the cb. creates noise in the audio circuits. This is a problem with the way a power inverter does the power conversion. I cant even use my laptop audio if the inverter is on. If I want to watch a DVD on the laptop with the audio out going into my head unit I have to run on the batterys which will only last about 1 1/2 hours.
In reality what you are trying to do is convert 12v DC to 110v AC and then back to 12v DC.
The "Big" base stations use the same main boards as the mobile radios. Open um up and you will see this little baby board in this huge case. So unless you just want a huge box in your vehicle your better off with a mobile designed radio.
Side note. The Galaxy 2547 is a CB radio base not an export so only 40 chans and it has a 12 v input on the back and is a smaller case than mine.
