The CB Doctor

Post by 721HACKSAW »

I have been looking for a Cobra 2000 to add to my growing collection of CB base radios. I had searched all the usual places, Pawn shops, flea markets, yard sales ect. The few I did find where in very questionable shape, switches broken, knobs missing or just DOA. I would not trust buying one off of Ebay, and the prices varyed greatly.
I contacted The CB Doctor, a Forum sponsor, because I could tell by his posts the man knew these radios well. He responded back promptly, and explained throughly how he could help me. He described the radio exactly, and emailed pictures. The radio arrived today, packed far better than any electronic product I have ever bought, new or used. The condition and operation of the radio far exceded my expectations.
The CB Doctor is a pleasure to deal with and a man of his word, I would recomend his service to anyone.
Thank you again, CB Doctor!!

I think I know what you mean, and you're probably much better off buying a Cobra 2000GTL-----from a Cobra 2000GTL SPECIALIST such as the CB Doctor! Glad to see you have a fine example of a great legendary radio. Have you owned one of these before, ever ? Just wondering. Let everyone know how the radio is doing as a follow-up report on the unit, it'd be great to hear. It's been a month now and hopefully you've had time to do some testing and try it out! Since no one has posted asking about the radio and Rick's work, I wanted to post and see if you'd tell us how things are coming along with it. There are many other Cobra 2000GTL owners on this forum, many. People like to hear about customer experience and radio performance! If you get a chance Hacksaw, let us know.

Hi 721HACKSAW

I appreciate the endorsement. The problem that I am having is turning around Cobra 2000 GTLs within 7 to 10 days. I started off doing that early in my online service, but ended up with so many 2000s at a time that I fell weeks behind. I know............. what am I complaining about?

Reputation is important and I pride myself into turning radios around within a reasonable time. I have had to turn away work and will be caught up soon. I am closing down for December. My brain needs to regroup in the Florida Keys, and it will for 3 weeks.

When I return I will be set to start restoring the Cobra 2000 GTL's again and be able to maintain a decent turnaround time. What I have discovered is that I can not save every Cobra 2000 GTL out there. Some are basket cases and not worth more than scrap. There are too many that can be fixed and I am only one man with a Day Job. I fix the radios for enjoyment I don't do it for the money, but I will take it :icon_e_smile:

I will not be returning to the Truck Stop anytime soon. I have been recording and putting together a video so that those that choose to attempt a repair themselves may do so. I would like the Cobra 2000 GTL to stay around for as long as possible. I hope there are plenty around long after I am gone. I should have paid more attention when I had a Tram D201A on my bench a least once a week. I am lucky to see two Tram D201A a year.

The Cobra 2000 GTL is my specialty and I would like to leave my knowledge about the radio behind. With the help of Cobra 2000 GTL owners I feel the Cobra 2000 GTL will be around for a while.

Thank you again, 721HACKSAW

I do a good job because I enjoy it. Working with good customers, such as yourself, makes it worth while.

Best wishes,
Respectfully as always,

Rick

Two things that could help alot of people in the future is to make a replacement for the MB3756 Regulator and a replacement for the audio chip Ta7222.Just a thought alot of older great radios have those two key parts and they are getting harder to come by and the price is shooting through the roof.
All radios tuned by the best me.
