Looking at buying this set up. Only issue is the frequency counter flickers off and on from time to time. Any one ever had this happen and if yes how did you fix it?

I'd step away from it unless it was just too good to pass up.
Yaesu no longer supports that model with repair parts so if something
significant fails, you find one used or junk the radio.

Like Preacherman stated, repairing those rigs can be a genuine pain in the a** if parts are needed. Check out the Fox Tango International Yaesu Group. They are dedicated to the 'FT' series Yaesu radios and might be able to offer some help/advise regarding that particular radio. Do a search and they are easy to find. :icon_e_wink: Good luck...

Could be something as simple as the memory battery going dead and/or needing a reset. On the other hand, like mentioned above, it could be a whole can of worms. They're known for flux residue causing components to fail and traces to lift. The FT-757 is no ones favorite radio to tear down and go through....aggravating "clamshell" assembly that breaks down into two halves, wires everywhere, screen and tin plate interior covers, and only component sides of the boards accessible without board removal.

Summary....it's a rig that doesn't require operator error to fail, especially how dated they've become. The reason I know:

Unfortunately It seems as radio's capabilities increase the ability to open them up and tinker with them decreases. I guess this is just the rule with everything especially electronics. That sucks...
