These radios are just fine!! If you like the noise toys they are better then fine, like super fun if thats your gig. If you do not like the noise toys its just OK. You can turn em up a bit so thats kewl to!! As far as the hot deal, Maybe if you have it turned up and stay on the echo thing forever.

As long as you don't try to squeeze every last watt out of it you will be fine. Any radio with a noise toy you would expect to run warmer anyway because people like to keep the hammer down and let the echo roll on, some even agitate with it LOL!

The 73v is a decent radio. It has the "Galaxy white noise" in the receive
just like all the rest...and it also has nice transmit audio and an excellent
echo board. Galaxy exports don't hold up as well in difficult environments
like a gravel truck...etc., and some did have cold solder joint problems.
Stay after them long enough and they work just fine.

I'm sure you'll love it, but remember that the radio doesn't make the station. This hobby is full of opinions and if you hang around long enough you can find them at both ends of the spectrum if you ask enough people about any one product. The antenna makes the station what it is, the radio is just a signal generator with hopefully good receive, and some extra wattage helps after the rest of it is all squared away. Be nice to that radio and it will last forever. Let the amps and antennas do the work and let the radio loaf. A set of finals will last you a lifetime if you have the radio properly tuned and leave the lid on.

DRDX is a wise man(how many have your burned up)LOL, I have burned up some equipment and have become a much wiser man LOL! I now know its all about the antenna and coax to get the signal out there. If its clean out a good antenna system will make it work!!!!!
