Got a nice "looking" Royce T-28 base today but sadly, when I took the cover off I discovered a mouse had made it's home in there for quite some time!! Alot of damaged wires, alot!!!

I tried to sell mine on E-bay 4 weeks ago,and they took my E-bay ad off and sent me a message that the FCC had warned E-bay about DX 1600's being sold to Non-Ham owners.

Re: What have you recently acquired for new radio gear ?
He had it listed for buy it now. He must have just listed it, I wasnt going to wait for them to pull it. Plus the price was right. And hell, even if it does have a few bad pills in it, I can use the parts to make a good one.

SCORE ! I found a NOS Cobra 142 GTL ( still wrapped up, in it's box ) near Buffalo, NY. I went to buy a D-104, and he said he had a bunch of his fathers "junk" in a closet and wanted to throw it out ! I had to almost force him to take $50.00 bucks from me, and I still feel guilty !
What a sweet, loud talker it is too!

Re: What have you recently acquired for new radio gear ?
Dang son, Evil Wind you STOLE that Cobra 142GTL-----shame on you! I think you better send it to me 'til we get things sorted out lol
After looking over the last page or two, it's plain to see that there's some real deals being found out there by everyone here who's keepin' there eyes peeled for undiscovered radio treasures. I mean look at it all . . .142GTL's, Texas Star DX667's & DX1600's, General Lee's, Predator's, vintage Royce base rigs, Uniden HR2510's, Connex 3300HP's, Candle shortwaves----on and on. And one thing that's almost always true, if you don't grab it, it's almost guaranteed someone else will. I can't think how many times I went back to a place the following day and----GONE.
It's always pleasant to see NEW and old both being bought and posted. Certainly the thread includes not only quality pre-owned gear like something found even from a local estate or pawn, but what about some of that brand spankin' new radio equipment ? Don't get me wrong, and I buy and collect the used and vintage stuff myself. But I tell you though, at the same time there's nothing like opening up a new radio fresh out of the package, including if it was peaked & tuned before being shipped. Knowing it's never had a rough life or been abused or mishandled. Taking the plastic sleeves off from the radio and mic, all the accessories neatly wire tied and carefully packed, removing all the protective coverings---even the smell of new electronics coming from the box is a good one. I think Glade should make an air freshener fragrance named simply "electronic goodies".
Well since the current state of my wallet is almost limited to pocket lint and cobwebs, the only thing I have to share for recent finds is the mic shown in this rather poor quality picture below. When buying something online but shown with a really bad or blurry listing photo with little detail, it's a real chance and sometimes you win sometimes you lose. I tried to buy one of these same mics earlier this Summer at a local flea market, but the guy wouldn't sell the mic separate from the attached radio. And I couldn't blame him I guess.
It's a Realistic Noise Cancelling Mic with Pre Amp Cat. No. 21-1175 and came in great condition, but for some reason and like so many other used mic's I buy----once AGAIN it's wired for 4-pin Midland. It seems like almost every mic I get is for a Midland (or similarly wired) radio! One of these days I'll need to sit down and re-wire at least 20x Midland-wired mic's----I really wish there was always just ONE standard connector and wiring scheme for all radio's and mic's alike, and that's it. What a dream that is. Anyway, the Realistic mobile mic shown here came with a roll of depleted "button" type batteries, as it's a noise-cancelling power mic. But the mic has decent output even without batteries, just a little on the low side. By itself (when being checked into a mic tester) it has a VERY smooth sounding audio, which is a good sign and what I'm always after. I'm looking forward to using it.
Wish I had more to report but----that's all (for now lol) folks!

Yesterday I got a 23 ch. Gemtronics GTX-3000 base, I've never even heard of these before!! It has a roll & flip style clock with alarm, big well lit meters, and an overall nice look comparable to other bases of that era.
It powers up and recieves, but no TX. Oh well, at least it didn't have a mouse living inside of it!!!

If it would get above 32 degrees - I might even consider connecting my Ranger 69 Radio ....ok, the truth, maybe if it was above 50 degrees, 33 is still too cold and we are supposed to get 3-5 inches of snow tonight.

Well, I just pulled the trigger on a Sparkified Connex 4600 Turbo , only a year old for $200. So now I,m playing the waiting game. Considering everything I've read about these, it should be pretty cool!!

Can't even use my 949!! I didn't think about my power supply when I upgraded...good lesson to learn though!!
Have to get me a larger power supply before I can use the Sparkified 949.......setbacks...always a setback.
Shrug,
Mike
