Distance between amp and radio

What is the best way to run an amp and radio? I would like to put my amp under my back seat and mount my radio to my dash? Every time I have ran an amp I have used a short jumper with the radio mounted next to or on top of the amp. Sooooooo any one have any ideas?

Most amps can take whatever size jumper you need. Some boxes are different. But most are ok, at whatever size you use.

Ditto that. I've done it both ways without a problem. Indeed most amps will be just fine. I've run one in the trunk of the car with the switch up front, mounted with my radio, etc. Never had any problems.

YEAH I HAVE A DAVEMADE 1X2 AND A S/W/P LEE FROM RADIOACTIVE. I FIRST HAD THE AMP ON THE FRONT FLOOR BOARD BUT THEN PEOPLE WANTED TO RIDE WITH ME, WHICH I OBLIGED SO I COULD SHOW OFF MY S/W/P LEE WITH MY DAVEMADE 1X2(M200) AND THEY JUST CAN'T BELIEVE HOW GREAT IT SOUNDS. SORRY FOR BRAGGING BUT ANYONE WITH A S/W/P LEE KNOWS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT & WILL BE BRAGGING AS WELL.
WORKING COWBOY I RAN MY AMP'S HOT WIRE TO THE BATTERY AND RAN THE NEGATIVE WIRE TO A SEAT TRACK BOLT & HOOKED IT UP (IT IS RECOMMENDED TO TRY AND MAKE THE NEG AS SHORT AS POSSIBLE!!!. I DID HAVE TO CHANGE MY JUMPER FROM 3 TO 6 FT WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS THOUGH!!! KNOCK ON WOOD, NOW THAT I HAVE BRAGGED ABOUT IT, IT PROBABLY WON'T WORK OR GET A BUNCH OF STATIC OR SOMETHING. THE BACK FLOORBOARD OR SEAT EVEN WILL NOT HURT A THING!!! IT MAY EVEN HELP KEEP IT A LITTLE COOLER IN THE WINTER TIME, ESPECIALLY SINCE YOU WON'T HAVE THE HEAT BLOWING RIGHT ON IT. SOME OF THE DAVEMADE AMPS HAVE FAN'S IN THEM I BELIEVE, I KNOW MINE DOES. I STUCK VELCRO ON EACH END THEN ATTACHED A SMALL BLOCK OF WOOD UNDER IT WITH THE VELCRO SO IT COULD GET AIR UNDER IT ESPECIALLY IN THE WINTER AND IT WON'T SLIDE AROUND. WORKING COWBOY, GOOD LUCK BUT I THINK EVERYTHING WILL WORK WITH NO HICK-UPS. I WOULD SUGGEST IN TRYING TO BUY RG8 OR RG213. ALL YEAH ONE MORE THING IT IS RECOMMENDED TO TRY & MAKE THE NEGATIVE WIRE SHORT AS POSSIBLE.

As long as you can keep your swr down, it realy dose'nt mater where you have the amp, and radio mounted.

In my Suburban, the amp's are way in the back, and useing I'll bet every bit of 50' of RG 213 coax, if not more. If you add-up all the feet of jumper's, and coax leading to the antenna! (swr flat across all 40+ channels, and ohm's in the high 40's to 51ohms.."48-51ohm")

Amp's are turned on and off by remote.

In my Ford E450SD truck. Amp is right next to the radio, useing 2' jumpers, and 12' of coax to antenna...swr and ohms are about the same, as the Suburbans.

BUT! Every install can be a little different, so this may or may-not work in yours.

IF YOU GET YOUR AMP BEFORE YOU RETURN BACK TO VA BRING IT YOU AND I CAN HELP YOU GET IT ALL HOOKED UP. I HAVE DONE 3 OF THEM THIS WEEK FOR A COUPLE OF FRIENDS OF MINE. IT'S PRETTY EASY ACTUALLY. JUST LET ME KNOW
