what will i need to do to run the galaxy 98vhp in a 04 silverado 1500

if your just running the radio you need 6 guage wire straight to the battery for pos and neg those radios have the quick connect right off the radio. i love how my 98vhp works and sounds

you will need an antenna and coax.. never key a radio without coax and antenna hooked up.. causing so will blow a final...
adjust you swr's to a low level... high swr's will also blow finals..

very good advice.my 98 has 6 gauge straight to the battery.and very very low swrs.i have a wilson 5000 roof mount in the center of my 98 suburban.my dad has the same setup with the antenna on the corner of the bed in his pickup.he lives in the panhandle of tx where it is fairly flat.when i was up there in my suburban last he went and sat on a little hill when i left.we talked for 70 miles as the crow flies.on 27.660 lsb.

will this radio pick up AND OR TRANSMIT on cb channel i no it illegal from what i have read was just wonderin if it did or not

yeah they do mine does. at least i think there opened up from the factory my cb freaks are on band E on my radio

they do not have 11 meter(cb band) working from the factory.they have to be converted to run on that band

that would make since i got mine second hand i didnt think about that if your getting one from the factory they can convert it for you though. good luck with yuor rig

i go the radio in a few days ago i ran the power and the ground wire to the battery with 6 ga. amp wire and it works great when the truck is off but i wont pick anything up when the trucks running can anymone help

wont pick up anything meaning.... the conversations you have when the truck is not running, you cant have when the truck is running??

yeah when the truck is running it wont pick up anything and the meter needle is sittin on about 2 1/2 when on swr and on pwr what could be my problem?

you could have interferance through the alternator try grounding everything to everything from the battery to frame to body panels what are your swrs and type of antenna are you running. see if its when the truck is running or if it happens when you just turn the key forward and in run position if it still does it. do you have the blower motor for air or heat on try shutting it off. try elimating any variables for when the truck is on to when its off

yea sounds like alt, engine, or injector noise or something... grounds grounds and more grounds will help
