I have a cobra 19 as a back up and I ran it with DM2x4 but mine has been peaked and tuned, so it pushes a little more power to it, you will also need to make sure you have a dead key between 1 and 2. There are people on here with more knowledge than me who may be able to provide better advise though.

I also doubt that excuse will work. Transistors are usually not warrantied.

As I was ordering my General Lee from RadioActive Electronics, I mentioned that I might be getting a Davemade M200 or M400. That prompted Mike to change the deadkey from the standard 2 or 2.5 watts, down to 1 watt or so. I'm not sure if it might do damage or not, but I would definitely check first.

I have heard that the competition class amps can be less forgiving to things not being set up properly

Also, I believe the upper wattage swing of the Cobra 19 will be short of what the M200 needs for full power output.

If the M200 normally does 400-500 watts. It may only do 300 or so with the Cobra 19 pushing it.

Matching the radio and amp are very important, and I would hate to see you disappointed after spending that much money.

It's great that you are asking first though!

Your welcome shortstuf2314,

I am pretty sure that RA does not work on Cobra Radios.

If you have been looking for an excuse to have a second radio, I think you're close! ... SWP Galaxy 99V, Connex 4800, General Lee...? Echo, variable talkback, variable Mic Gain, dual final transistors, are some things that I am really happy with since I made my Cobra 19, my backup radio.

From what I've experienced, and what I've been reading, having a hyper-modified radio, (aka- SuperWackPacked, with SuperReceive) as the driving device is a really good start.

The next cheapest improvement, if you don't want to invest in a new radio at this time, would be to consider an amp that will be happy with your 2 watt deadkey, and there is still a chance that the DaveMade will be OK with it.

I had an amp that I put behind a couple of single final radios, and once I switched to a dual final radio, I saw that the amp output increased by over 50%. Also, one of the magical things about RA's SuperWackPacked General Lee, is that whistling into the mike will make any radio put out its false max power, and saying a long AAAAuuuuuuuuudddddiiiiiooooooo, will also give a good indication of max talk power, but if you are speaking normally, RA's SuperWackPack appears to hover in the high power range much better than the other radios I have tried.
Example, I had a Modified Ranger RCI 2950 DX that would "whistle" higher than the SWP General Lee, but would only put out 1/3 the wattage with normal talking.
Oh, and the SuperReceive is not snakeoil. It outperforms the receive on all the other modified radios I've had (Cobra 19, Galaxy Sirius, Galaxy 73V, & RCI 2950 DX)...very powerful, but controllable and smooth.

Feel free to ask further.
Bad purchases, and regret, can be left to someone else.
Staying put until you decide what you really want to to is free, and smart!

You may want to start a new post if you change subjects.

That's funny Mississippifrog,

Actually, he's already joked about it, but if I was on the payroll, that would remove the credibility of what I say.

Some people are fine with any radio that transmits and receives at all. I would have spent a lot less money if I could be happy that way.

I am simply enjoying helping those, who like me, don't like being lied to, don't like finding out they've been robbed, want to make sensible moves, and for those who want premium performance...well...

There are far to few products, or services, especially in the CB world, that remind you on a daily basis, that it is the best, it's solid, it's operating at the limits of the laws of Physics, it don't get no better...

Several of us have made the rounds of bad techs, and less than the best CB shops, and I am simply stating that Mike at RadioActiveRadio's has provided, on a consistent basis, what some of us have spent thousands of dollars to find; A much better than stock, and much better than most, modified radio job that rocks!

THIS AIN'T YOUR DAD'S PEAK AND TUNE BUBBA!
