radio mounting screw size for stryker 440?

There are 4 standard sizes for CB mounting screws: 4 mm, 5 mm and 6 mm. I don't know of any other sizes.

Sounds like you may have 6mm knobs and that your radio might take 5mm. Just a guess, but since they are to big to thread in anymore than that, and since 5mm and 6mm are about all that is used on modern radios, I'd say it's the likely scenario.
