cushion mount for mobile
Does anyone know of a mounting system for a mobile that will act as a shock absorber? Something I can buy or something you did yourself. I have a Galaxy 88 which I have been told has a weak circuit board. It is going in a 64 van. The ride is pretty rough on the road and I like to go off road sometimes. Fishing, camping, stuff like that. I'm worried it won't last if it is mounted directly.

Oops, sorry. I just realized this should have been in mobile setups. Maybe a mod can move it. Lee

I remember they used to have them for cd players in the 90's, and you could possibly modify one if you found one.Thats all that I can think of.

In a pinch when I was in a borrowed car, I just laid my rig on the flat dashboard and I used a piece of non-slip kitchen-cabinet shelf liner to cushion the rig, and it didn't slide all over the place. Pick your big-box store's web site (t@rgét, wally world, etc), search for "shelf liner" and you can even pick our own color. Take a big piece and fold it up to your desired thickness. Not quite a permanent mount, but could be adapted to, say, building a wooden box around radio, lined with the non slip shelf liner, then mounted in your car.
or, how about this: Weave a mini hammock and suspend your rig with mini bungee cords from headliner.
Hope this helps

Rubber washers or mounts to absorb some of the impact.

Thanks for the ideas. I looked for a cd mount with no luck. The rubber washers are something to look into that I never thought of. I've got some of the non slip material. I could make a base of several layers and bungie it down.If I mount it in a box it won't look okie although I am proud of being one I don't have to let it show in everything I do.
