I often look at small radios just b/c in my truck there's not a ton of space.
It looks like Galaxy is making some really nice smaller chassis radios these days.
Look here then contact one of our sponsors and buy one!

I second this. Although I'm not sure about the "HP" the Magnum 257's I've heard all sound great (especially on sideband)! The only negative thing I can think of on it is I don't care for their menu layouts as they aren't very intuitive to me. But that's likely more of an operator (mental) issue than the radio.

Good luck.

I just bought a Magnum 257HP and for the 3 days it worked, it worked very well. Fantastic receiver, but like all the reviews said, can pick up noise in an urban environment.
I hardly had used mine for the 3 days I had it (running into a known good/tested/monitored load) when it would break into self oscillation at about 20W PEP output.
I contacted Magnum, they were apologetic, and gave me an RMA# to send in for repair. Not replacement, but repair.

I would have thought they would have replaced the unit, but there I go thinking again..... I really like the radio, and can't wait to get it back. As far as Magnum's policy on return/repair,
the jury is still out on that one. They said about 4 days turn around. We'll see.
