Got my new EastCoast Amp yesterday and hooked it up behind my SWP Gen Lee and my Mic spring shocks or burns me when i key the duckplucker up i havent noticed the grill gettin hot or anything but that little spring coming out of the bottom of the mic around the cord will bite the hell out your finger. Now what in the world causes this it has never done this before with the old Fatboy 3 pill?

DUCK COMMANDER I RAN MY NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE FROM SWP GENERAL LEE TO THE BATTERY AND RAN MY DAVEMADE 1X2 TO MY SEAT POST AND SO FAR I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS. AS A MATTER OF FACT EVERY AMP THAT I HAVE HAD HOOKED UP I RAN MY NEGATIVE TO THE SEAT POST. SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE RUNNING AN ASTATIC 636L MIC WHICH IS THE SAME MIC I RUN. I DOUBT THIS WOULD MATTER BUT WHAT GAUGE WIRE ARE YOU RUNNING TO THE AMP? I RUN 8 GAUGE. GOOD LUCK WITH SHOCK PROBLEM. MAKE SURE YOU DIDN'T CUT THE WIRE IF YOU RAN THROUGH YOUR FIREWALL.

I'll tell ya this, I grounded everything on my truck. Ladder rack, bed, frame, hood, front clip, body, fenders, battery and there are 2 seperate grounds inside on body all daisy chain connected. My East Coast 4 pill dont shock me at all. Well, it is a shock to see my voltage drop when I key up but........................

Lol Phaze.

I grounded my amp to the seat post along with my radio. I've got the 636l as well and it doesn't shock me. If grounding the radio and amp chassis to the frame doesn't work, try grounding the negative amp wire to the seat post or something. One way should git er dun.

Grounding the radio should take care of it. Any voltage that is going to the spring will be eliminated. That spring is directly tied into the ground on the chassis of your radio. Make sure you have a good, solid metal to metal connection whereever you attach the ground. Find a good bolt under the dash, and take a screwdriver to scrape away any paint underneath the bolt.

Hey DuckCommander,

The problem you are experiencing is RF.....
Try grounding everything with 3/4" braided ground strap... Ground the doors and from the body to the frame... Ground your equipment also!!!
I have heard of people getting RF burns from those type of mics before but never experienced it myself....
If the problem continues after all the grounding, try using a stock mic....

Have fun with the EastCoast Amp....
