Any ideas? the center console goes all the way to the dash. so the bottom of the dash is out of the question.

There just isn't a real good place in these newer vehicles with all the nice comfort items. I was thinking about getting a new truck recently and all them had no real good place to mount a radio except maybe on the dash, but that is quite a commitment to the hobby when you drill holes into your dash...I just don't seem to keep a vehicle long enough to make it justifiable. :joker:

I used to have a 03 malibu that the center console went clear up to the bottom of the dash. So I ended up mounting the radio on the drivers side of the console. It actually worked out pretty good. I haven't seen the inside of a 02 Tahoe, but if possible you might think about mounting it on the side of the console. Just an idea.

I have an Expedition and had the same issue. I used the 2 drinkholders to my advantage. Rounded off a 6x6 post into two legs which fit inside the cupholders. Attached a nice piece of cherry wood shelving and mounted the radio to it. It all sits nicely in the holders and best of all, unplug the power and antenna and the whole deck just lifts out. Safe from theft! It works for me! Cobra 138xlr plus external speaker are attached to the shelf

Was a 4x4 sorry. Additional thought you can build a "hanger" that hooks into one cupholder and allows radio to hang
on the passenger side of the console. It also would allow easy removal. I hate
putting holes in visable places.
