need more power

i have a mirage 88 in my little jeep pretty much stock with the big peak and tune. and a wilson 1000 magnet mount. stock mic. i can hear guys from all over the place. had canada the other night and some alabama too. i'm from south central pa. i would love to be able to get out, and walk around a lil bit. i know i have a great starting platform, but which direction should i go? and why can't some of you guys live closer to me to help me out.

here are my thoughts.
sell radio, to fund getting something a lil bigger(bigger galaxy, or an older rci 6500 turbo)my buddy has an rci got from the mason dixon line to texas barefoot. just a peak and tune

talk to mr radioactive about some extra help(dave made or palomer) but funds are kind of tight to go this route.

sell radio, and again talk to radioactive and get something with this super wackpack. i have no idea what this super wackpack is though.

talk to my local radio guy. he builds an external modulator box for around 150$

well those are my ideas, and i'm always open for suggestions, let me know what you all think.

First off, what kind of Jeep do you have? Wilson 1k is okay, but I can think of other antennas that blow it's doors off. I have an '02 TJ and a '95 XJ. I don't run my Wilson Truckers on either of them. My 1k however would work...just not as well as some of the others out there.

You might consider [Please login or register to view this link] for now...at least until you can pull together some funds. It's an excellent deal (IMO).

RA's stuff is class A+++ stuff, too! Plenty of posts on the forum to back that up. However, for the $150 your radio guy wants for a modulator, you'd be better off with Stickman's stuff IMO. Then sell your radio and get with RA so you have some better frequency options.

Buy an amp or get a General Lee, or a big galaxy,,,from Radio Active, both Superwackedpacked,,,they will talk skip bare foot,,,then you can out a small amp in later if its not enough,,,BTW STICKMAN has a radio and amp for sale,,,cobra 25GTL is the one he got from me,,,its setup right with echo and setup for an amp, super recieve in it also,,,that radio will talk the talk,,but remember its a CB, not with any extra channels,,,,loud and I mean loud radio

Super wack packed General Lee from RA, I talk all kinds of skip with mine, Eastcoast has some very good prices on amps. I myself run A DaveMade 2x4 but the eastcoasts are cheaper but I hear they work pretty well, I have people in florida Michigan, Illinois tell me I am coming in very loud. You have many options, just be sure to do your research and buy your Radio from RA.

Keep the radio if its in good shape, you cant replace the mirage 88. Talk on one myself!

well i got to take a lil barefoot walk around this afternoon. i got from the york area here in pa(keystone) out to NE missouri, and found a guy in indiana that was super loud. was surprised to see my barefoot go that far. i would have kept going, but i broke the key on my mic. i was using PA257 if anybody else might have heard me. i think i got to maine too.

also kept hearing a guy yelling what sounded like "wagon wagon". pretty annoying, but he was mobile and coming across pretty clear.

CBSAREUS IN LOCATED IN LEBANON PA NOT SURE HOW FAR THAT IS FROM YOU BUT I DON'T BELIEVE THAT IT'S TOO FAR, ANY HOW THEY SELL AMPS AND COULD PROBABLY HELP YOU OUT BY SETTING IT UP FOR YOU. i told a couple of the guys at work about my barefoot walk and they where really surprised. i traded the 1 guy my galaxy 55 for this mirage 88, and he gave me some more info on it. it is roughly 11yrs old.it was fully peaked and tuned at the start of its life. it was then tuned back a bit to run an amp on it. he doesn't think he ever had the power cranked back up in it, after taking out the amp. i need it in a couple weeks for an offroad run i'm involved in, then after that i'll be making a phone call to mr radioactive, and seeing what i can afford to do to it.
