Newer Ford Ranger - where to mount radio?

#296240

Post by stmnt2010 »

I own a 02 Mazda B3000 truck (same as Ford Ranger), which doesn't have a good spot under the dash to install a radio.

If you own a newer Ranger/Mazda B (1999-up) where did you install yours? Has anyone tried making a roof mount?

Forgot to say, mine is a 5-speed so nothing fits between the seats.

I think your are running into what everyone runs into with installing an 'aftermarket' radio of any kind. It amounts to making the thing 'fit' in the most convenient place for you.
Roof mounting? I'll bet someone has. How much trouble is it, what kind of problems can you run into? Beats me, I have no idea since I've never even seen your kind of truck before, as far as I know. What are you willing to 'modify' to make things fit? How much 'ugly' can you put up with??
Not much specific help, huh? If you ever figure that mounting thingy out, tell me about it too. -WE- will make a fortune!!

Hello Joanie

I have a 1994 Ranger 5/sp and I had the same problem. I fabbed a mount between the shifter and the seat. Does'nt work great with a large radio like a 949, but it does work.

i took the arm rest out of mine and made me a mount for the radio and put it there in between the seats. Have the external above it and the texas star behind the passenger seat. Meter on the dash.
