RF power is how much power your radio is going to put out. You might as well leave it wide open.

Thats a nice feature. Powered down I bet its still a Hoss. But a great feature I think. I mean if you just crusising down the 2 lane and want to just talk to someone close to you or call out that bear hidding in the bushes, the guys Miles and miles away dont care lol.. I can see where if all your doing is try to talk long distance to keep it all up but in a case like above thats a nice feature.

Thanks for your help so far guys!!! I really appreciate it. I can see me hanging around here for a long time (or as long as you will let me lol)
You wouldnt beleve the sites you can join these days about things to ask questions and try to learn. Alot of people think your suppose to be born with all the knoledge and give you no slack when you ask questions that sound stupid to them because they already know the answers.
So THANKS!

I hear that.

I dont care about how far I get out or how close I am to other radios. I have only had 1 or 2 complain because I was right next to um but in a min or 2 I am far enough away that it dont matter.

Was comming back from Atlanta Dragway and was checking for cops and got a reply that was weak and in the static giving me a report 15 miles downrange. I love that this SuperWackPacked radio could pick that guy up and that he could hear me clear enough with other traffic that he could reply.

Dont be afraid to ask ! There are some great ppl here and a wealth of information.

We are glad you are here and hope you stay and chat.

I think you talked me into it. I have already contacted Mike at RA about prices for the Connex.
So we will see. 8)

rec'd..............the 575 is awesome but not needed. The reason astatic discontinued them was not because they arent a good mic, but most truckers couldnt use them in a loud big truck. The 575 was the best mobile power mic ever made, but new old stock.........they are expensive. Usually $100-$150 Most just go with the 636L or RK56.

Well, I ordered a Connex 4600 Turbo-SuperWackPacked at 205Watts and a Astatic 636L Mic from RA the other day.

Thanks for all your help. I hope it gets here soon I cant hardly stand it. Finally going to be nice to have a top of the line radio to talk on. :!:

I was just thinking of something...

I know Its possible to cross over to TV's like on a base or what not and a Low Pass TVI Filter can help.. Do those work good?

Also just thinking about the mobile setup.. Same scenario but with other cars radios?
Going down the hwy or sitting in traffic, is running over the radio of the cars around me a concern?
Will the Low Pass TVI Filters fix this also?

And should these be put I know between the antenna and radio, but on the radio side of the coax or the antenna side of the coax if that makes sence?

So is run over an issue on others cars radios like in traffic or driving next to me? How close?
And would this fix it if It does?

If your running only 200 watts you should be ok but strange things can happen sometimes. I'm sure many of the more experianced cb'ers can tell some stories...

I would go with a SWP General Lee from radioactive, the only drawback for you would be that it doesn't have ssb but you dont really need it because am works just fine. I talk skip all over the country with mine, you 102" whip will work fine with it, just ensure that swr's are low across the board. From what I have always heard ssb is only for the people who cant talk am. Opions will vary alot depending on who you ask, so if you want the real answeres to your questions call mike at radioactive and he can answer all of them for you. His number is (520)466-6868.

oh, im so ready. All wired up and ready to go.

4Ga 1ft to the inline fuse (currently 100amp that im going to trade in for a 40-50 or so when I go to autozone)
8ga from the inline fuse to a 2 way power distribution block (perfect for the 2 powerleads that will be on my radio.
8ga ground wire (about 3.5ft long) going to the passenger side door jam to a big bolt there. (I originally went to the seat but my seat bolts look like a butterfly and I dont have anything that would hold onto them to turn them.. But I think the door thing will work. . Its the same bolt just the other door I have some other electrical devices grounded to).

So I should be READY TO GO when it gets here.

I need to pick up some 8gauge connectors and things to ground the truck good to the frame.. I have alot of 4gauge-8gauge and other high gauge wire left over from the kit. Plenty to ground the truck properly.

I sure dont know when its coming but I sure hope its soon 8) Im all ready now.

I really don't think you need to trade your fuse for a smaller one unless you really want to. If you've already got that 100 amp, use it. Thats what I'm using on mine with my G. Lee and Eastcoast 2 pill.
