Normal?
Hey guys, I was playing with my radio today and switch to USB and LSB, just scanning channels, and all I hear is pops, squeels, beeps, and static. Is this normal? When I try to tune it, I then hear whines. Is something wrong mith my radio, or is it normal? BTW, I didnt hear anybody talking on there either. AM I can hear and sometime I hear distant voices on SSB, but IDK.
Thanks
Benjamin.
Thanks
Benjamin.

Re: Normal?
Is this in your mobile and were you hearing this running down the road? try it with engine running than engine off? The whining part had me puzzled and sounds like maybe alternator whine...

on usb/lsb you will hear some strange noises for sure.
don't worry about it, it means its working fing.
ch 38 lsb you should hear some good dx.
27 555 if your radio has it on usb is the international calling channel.

Re: Normal?
Try listening on 36 thru 40 LSB. Most everything below 36 will be AM and that's probably the wine and squeel you hearing.
