So here's my issue, i was running an 2950 and a small heater, I set the swr and left it alone for at least 2 years. Then after some thinkin the other day I dug out a 2970DX i had never used and decided to put it in the truck. I removed the radio/box/ and the jumper from radio - box and ran the 213feed straight to the 70dx. I put the radio in the same spot(after flipping the face so the heat sink is on top). And i went to check the swr (mic gain all the way down and on am) and i'm over 3.
So, i decided to start bonding the truck and have most of it done. I have the cab, bed, and cab to bed left to bond. I did notice that in just bonding the hood to firewall, doors to cab and tailgate to bed i dropped down in the 2's range on swr's.
But that is with my radio varible almost all the way down(bout 8 o'clock).
But, now my question is once i'm finished running ground straps, should i be setting swr at full power? and when i put a heater in later do i just put it in or set the swr with it on? reason i ask is because i think i set the swr last time without the box on, but someone just told me that i need to set them with power on???
Another quick question... as far as bonding the truck.... (i used 1/2" wide strap, and brazed the copper lug ends with 30/70, for the cab and bed i'm gonna use sliver plated 1' wide), but i ran 2 straps on the hood and tailgate, ans was gonna run the remainder of straps in sets of 2 as well. is this ok or is one strap preferred?
switched radios and took out the heat...SWR's high now

Re: switched radios and took out the heat...SWR's high now
SWR isn't power related other than recalibrating the SWR meter. If you have a certain SWR at 1 watt, you will have the same SWR at 100 watts of whatever power you want to use. The SWR doesn't change, only how you might be measuring it.
Grounding/bonding would be nice if it's symmetrical. Using two straps instead of one certainly won't do any harm.
