1-Farad Capacitor

20-volt surge, 1 farad capacitors are commonly used in high end automotive stereo applications. This is what stores enough power to let the amp pound out the thumping sound you can hear from 3 blocks away. Has anyone ever added one of these in line to feed their big radio? Seems to me this would be a no brainer, especially for those of us with little bitty alternators.

yea they really won't work in radios apps, they are designed for a the draw of a amp that produces alot of bass, but if you have a free one you might try it, I never have any luck though

Caps are used with sub amps in auto use. Base hits strong but briefly. The cap only helps with the extra burst needed then recharges for the next hit.

Radio broadcast is for a longer period of time and will tap a cap in seconds. If you have a upgraded charging system and batteries to handle whatever amp you have a cap can help the initial surge.
