Very nice looking little AM Teaberry. You don't find them in that good of condition everyday.

For a dipole there are lots of plans out there to build your own. If you want one that is pre-made and practical for vertical polarization the Sirio SD-27 dipole works very well. I've been using one as my vertical for over a year now. If you want one for horizontal then a wire type would work great and can be built for next to nothing. Or bought pre-made for reasonable price.

Congrats Image ...but I would of liked to see you with an SSB rig ..far better chance of talking some skip.

It's a classic NICE radio ...look closely at the speaker grill ...not even a dent

Quick question. Is it possible to use the ground prong (from the three prong outlets) to use as your ground plane? Silly question but could it work?

Good looking T-Berry base Image!! My grandmother had one like that when I was a kid. Every Saturday night at her house was like an open line back then....not that way nowadays.....

It won't work as a ground plane because it's an electrical ground not a RF ground and what might happen it could couple the rf into the electrical wiring and cause interference to anything that's plugged into that line.
It won't blow your radio out I wouldn't tell you to try it if it could.

Quick question. I noticed that about the only thing that doesn't work on the radio is the DeltaTune +.

If I have it set on 0 or - it works, it's only when I set the switch to + is when the speaker goes blank.

Oh, and one more thing, I noticed that I have to have my squelch up about three quarters of the way up when I'm just receiving normal background static. Could there be an issue with that? The person who last had it hasn't used it for ages. The channel selector was having some issues but after turning the knob around a few times it's working perfectly, could this have a similar issue with the squelch knob?

The controls are dirty. You need some electronics/contact cleaner to spray in them and work them around. I've had a bunch of classic radios with Delta Tune where the control had become so dirty that the radio would lose receive in some of the positions. Same with the channel selector. When they become so dirty they loose contact internally and therefore the radio won't work or work only intermittently.

Not sure about your squelch situation. What are you using for a antenna? Is the meter readings a lot of noise signal? If the meter is reading a high signal of some sort then the squelch will have to be turned way up to engage it.

Where its located now, it's about a 3 (you can see the SWR, TX and RX meter in the pictures)

Hopefully it's better after I get my dipole antenna.

I love those classics. I tend to lean towards the 40 channels cause all the local talk and my fav skip channels are above 23. But thats really cool rig! post pics of the rig when your done.

or just try a amtron 99or a imax 2000 they are both good antnnas as long as you do not run to much power. cause they like to bleed over.
