browning mark 3 speaker issue
long story short internal speaker bit the dust, cant find a speaker that will work the original is like a 3.2 ohm. I am having trouble getting anything to work what do i need to do to get a 8 ohm to work on it any ideas even external nothing old speaker was taken out. Recieve works transmit too just no sound. please help 355 bluegrass

i am guessing bad 6aq5 tube or speaker transformer but if external is gone leads me to believe its the tube

No offense but the grammar of your first post is so bad in places I don't understand what you have tried and what you have not. Therefore my apologies if some of what I suggest are things you have already eliminated/tried.
I would think a 4 ohm would work but if you can't get any sound out of another speaker, no matter the resistance, then something else is going on. If you have some sort of working speaker and some alligator test leads just clip onto the speaker inputs for the existing speaker, run them to the other speaker, and see if you get some sort of sound out. That will work for a quick sound test in most cases. Or test the speaker on a ohm meter and see if the resistance is somewhere close to 3.2 ohms. You might have to disconnect the speaker inputs to get an accurate reading with an ohm meter. If the voice coil in the speaker isn't open circuit then you should be getting some sound whether clear or distorted.
If it's not the speaker then trace the audio circuit back from the speaker input leads. I'm assuming you still show receive signal on the meter but just don't have any audio output correct?

Sorry about the punctuation there it was a very late night. The problem turned out to be the 8 pin socket, when the plug was pushed in it pushed the female pins out the back. I fixed that problem, and then had the same issue with the mike socket on the transmitter. The old girl is just getting old, but i can not bear to put her down. That is by far the best skip talking radio i have ever had the pleasure to run. Thanks to your post i did find the issue when i traced things down.
