Cobra 29 ltd with rfx-75

Thinking about having a rfx-75 installed on a cobra 29 ltd. Was wondering if it would be acceptable to get the power for the radio from the fuse panel instead of connecting directly to the battery.

Quick answer would be no. The best reason for running to the battery is its a clean source of power. No interference from other electrical components in the car. One other thing, once the RFX75 has been installed you'll want to mount the radio where it can get good air circulation. They tend to run a tad bit warm.

Thanks for the info. What gauge wire would be recommended to use with the rfx-75

Hi awz71,
For the radio I ran a 10 gauge wire in from the battery, the 10 gauge ground wire can go to a good ground (bolt) under the dash. Remember to install a fuse at the battery in case the wire shorts somewhere in line.

and if you wait a week or more then the RFX-150 will be out and going
alot easier to install with a bit more power but not like anyone in dx would be able to tell
A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone
