Re: HOME MADE MIC BOX
dont need a 5 pin, all my radios are 4 pin cept my rci 2950 and i have a 4 pin to 5 pin adaptor for that, plus, its easy to wire up a 5 pin connector if i need one

by the way , I was told i would need either individual switches for each mic or a rotery switch , it works fine without it.
heres how i wired the box.

Re: HOME MADE MIC BOX
so when you key up one mic it only takes audio from that mic, even with all the others wired in the circuit. i would think it would be getting audio from all 4 mics??

Re: HOME MADE MIC BOX
No , most mics switches are wired to disconnect the element but with the way he has it wired you can talk with all the mics keyed at the same time but I would not recommend doing it.

Re: HOME MADE MIC BOX
i did similar with a box i built, i used a 3-pole 6-position rotary switch and tied all grounds together as a 3-pole switch was realatively easy to find and its a good easy way to come up with a handy piece of kit so you can have two mics hooked up to the same radio in the same shack at opposite ends of the room, also if you connected another 6-position switch to each "mic-input" of the first 6-position switch you could build yourself a 32-way mic-comparator!, another thing that you could find handy is something i built just its a variation of this, to use a 6 pole 2 position switch and use the second two poles on the switch for the speaker switch, i made it so i could use the cb in my shed but not have to have a radio in there as in winter it would rust away where i live! granted ya need a power mic when running a dayum loing cable like that but in principle it works, i was even thinking of adding to it and having a patch-socket out in the garden!

Re: HOME MADE MIC BOX
Hey ChopperDave,
Any chance you know of a supplier who carries straight mic cord in bulk rolls?
I'm looking to replace my curly mic cords, for the mics in my shack.
Thanks,
Jimbowilly

Re: HOME MADE MIC BOX
Durham Radio in Oshawa Ontario Canada sells the straight cable
-- Sunday, 08 January 2017, 13:45 PM --
I bought the box at Radio Shack and picked up the connectors at a CB shop
-- Sunday, 08 January 2017, 13:46 PM --
If you have old radios laying around, you can take the connectors from them, otherwise the complete box will end up costing quite a bit of money to build

Re: HOME MADE MIC BOX
The old Radio Shack desk mics had straight cords if you can find one of them mics, use the cord off of it.

Re: HOME MADE MIC BOX
Ive also used musical instrument MIDI cables for keyboards the come with a 5 Din plug at each end and also in different colors, they are thinner then the other black cord. not too expensive , almost every music store sells them.
