I have a Kris 23+ with a Pal VFO. For some reason it does not like to work if the VFO shielded cable is grounded. In other words I only connect the inner conducter of the hook up from the VFO to the radio. Ocasionally my freq. counter goes crazy on both transmit and receive, then if I just touch the base of the D-104 hooked up to the radio it will allow the counter to work as normal. Any ideas, or better yet, ways to fix the problem so the VFO can be hooked up the way it is supposed to be.

Hello B C,
Welcome to the forum.I had a couple of the Siltronix models but never a Pal, CB Tricks has a manual for them, it may help.

From what I read it may need the special coax.

Re: Kris 23+ and VFO problem
Thanks for your help Greg, I do have the proper RG-174 U hook up coax. I am quite sure that the whole problem has to do with the one wire hook up, but if the ground (shield) is connected to any ground the VFO operation stops. Disconnect the ground and it will operate again but with crazy freq. counter readings. The operater that I might be talking to see's or hears no difference on his end.
