noobie question!

I'm sure this has been asked before but I couldn't find the answer.What does the 10k switch do exactly?If I put my General on 18 and turn the 10k on I can hear 19.Is it similar to ssb or something different?

thats all it does is take you to the next channel.

There are specific channels that the 10K switch can be used for. Unfortunately I can't remember them all since I never use it. I believe some of them are 5, 7, 11, 15, and 19. Go to these channels and flip the switch and you are talking on what some people call "hidden channels". Many of these are used for radio control airplanes and stuff.

PLEASE. If I'm wrong here, someone correct me!! I don't want to be putting out bad information!!

Bob is right, it will put you on RC channels,,,there is one between channels 3 and 4,,channels 7 and 8,,,11 and 12,,,15 and 16,,,19 and 20,,,I think if memory is right that is it,,,,someone else may remember better,,,I had a RC boat that was on 27.025(CB channel 6),,,but most are between CB channels

LOL, yea they crashed a plane or two! They are called RC channels since they were RC frequencies. Now a days people just use 3a,7a,11a, 15a, and 19a as extra channels to talk on.

I have a good friend that we talk on RC channels all the time, less traffic and my mud duck station can get to him on the rc channels
