How big of a linear can a semi run without creating a proble
I like texas star, and am open to others. I just do not need to create a problem. Power drain or computer problem ect. Linear will be run with proper power cables and fuse.

A sweet 16 connected to a CLEAN radio is fine.
A 29/33/general lee and add your favorite , clipped diodes and peaked will make any electronics suffer.

I ran a 2X8 in mine with no problems. Be careful with texas stars they are amp hogs.
We're all going to die, but I've got a helmet.

Depends on how deep your pockets are, and how well it's installed...I know guys that run 16-24 pill Amps in Big Trucks with no problems, and I know guys that have shut their motors down with 2-pill box's...
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Currently running a 2x12 with upgraded alternator in a 2012 Freightliner Cascadia at 3,000 watts output... do it all day long... careful antenna installation and choice of coax are 2 areas too concentrate on.... LMR 400 I use for everything... And antenna is mounted off the back behind cab...

Re: How big of a linear can a semi run without creating a pr
Drilled hole behind cab up underneath and brought it on to bunk.. used caulk after running coax to seal around the area where the coax was run through... in all I drilled 4 holes... 1 for the coax and 2 for the #2 positive cable and 1 for the #4 negative cable... The battery cable holes were drilled underneath near the battery box ....

Yes the coax runs down the cab... looped the coax a bit and used a couple zip ties to keep the coax from pullin g on the connector.

Re: How big of a linear can a semi run without creating a pr
Coax if I remember right was about 20 feet... that got it too the bird.. than 6 feet off of that to the amplifier ... than the jumper between radio and amp was about 9 feet... SWR reflected is about 1/2 percent to 1 percent at a full 3000 watts.

Re: How big of a linear can a semi run without creating a pr
Running a K40 Coil antenna and yes it is... Mounting it behind the cab and tilting it back slightly toward the trailer increases the feed point impedance giving me a near perfect match... between a combination of tilting the antenna back and trimming it along with good coax... I was able to achieve this.

I've also sealed all connections with a clear sealant so I can use it rain or shine without much change due to weatger

Yep, I've ran across a few of those bugs myself in the past few days. All cleared up now I think but i'm finding out you'll find problems in places you never thought to look.
