Does anyone know how to convert an AL811 to work on the 11 meter band?

The Band selector has an "AUX" position, you will find a green wire on that terminal going to the chassis, cut this wire. You should be able to tune the amp for the 10-12 meter bands then.

Welcome to the forum, here is a pic of what to look for,

I would insulate the wire with a wire nut or shrink tube, do not remove it completely as you may need to hook it up again.

Sounds like that is the same wire I clipped in my AL-82.

I thank you all that replied to my question. I noticed the green wire is already cut. The next thing will be something to drive it which I'm already working on. Also have an Icom 718 to try. Forgive me but it will take a little while to get all my ducks in a row with regards to introducing myself and making my up my profile and learning how all this works but I'll get there.

Hello all who helped. I finally got the AL 811 on the air. I used my Galaxy DX94HP (50 Watts AM) to drive it and a foot switch to key the amp. I was getting a little over 400 watts on AM with good signal reports. Well now I need to either design a circuit to fit inside the DX94HP that will key the amp. This would limit me to AM only as the 94HP is 100W on SSB. Too much for the AL 811. Or I could use my Icom 718 at reduced power on SSB but now I'm limited to SSB only. Best solution I guess is a 100W AM and SSB RCVR whose power can be reduced to around 75W max. Anyone got a radio that can do that?

Welcome to the forum. You'll get there and this hobby is never ending. Just make sure you read up on on how to tune it and make sure you tune it on whatever drive power is coming from the radio. I tune mine with a 50 word per minute cw tone with fast breaks and peak the external watt meter at max based on the power level from the radio. You can also tune it with a **Censored** and you can find it at 3898pecker.com. Word of advice if you are going to use it on other bands, make sure you at least 4kc plus kc away from the frequency you will be calling on someone on who is engaged in a QSO. Depending on your antenna system on the other low bands, you may have to keep tuning it when you move up and down the band same meter. I know one thing, I am glad I am running mine at 220 volts so I don't see the lights flicker. Here is a web address for 115v vs. 240v service.
