i've had them all and my personal favorite is still the turner plus 3b

Depends on the radio.

HR2510 Either an Astatic M575M6B, Astatic D104M6B, or Turner +3

The Turners' are base mics and have their advantages, I can use them hands free on long QSOs, but a few of my more modern hand held mics sound better than the turner, AND.....hands down, my favorite is the 575M6B.....as they say, "You can have it when you pry it out my cold dead hands......"

The 575M6B, Right on Brother! Still have it and the HR2510 for over 20 years. I will never give up either one til' I die! I love a D104 M6B too.

Actually, it depends on the radio. If I'm running a supertuned Grant, 148 or Washington as a base, I use a D104TUG-8, for sideband I either use a turner +3 base mic or a non-amplified UG-8 stand D104. for any other base like a 142GTL, etc I use a Turner +3.

I love my silver eagle. I also have 2 other d104s that sound great. My turner +2ssb sounds good on my Navajo 433 but it like my +3b I have to turn the gain on the mic down to just barely cracked open or I get a terrific squeal. My road devil works/ sounds great on all the radios Ive tried it on. But a basic $10 superstar hand mic sounds / performs as well as any other IMO. But I would have to say the best sounding mics are the ones Ive built myself. I use all kinds of stuff like beverage cans. old john deere ploughs ect. Just stupid things I think look cool. Some are amplified others not. I use the same elements as the old rk56 mics and most of mine sound great but I will admit it took awhile to get the barrel sound out of my first can mics. 73s

I had a Turner Plus 2 , (the green one) on my President Washington years ago and it was a great microphone. Would it be worth it to find one and have it wired for the Uniden Bearcat or do the more knowledgeable people think that there are better mic es out there.

buy a bunch of different mics, wire them all up for the radio you intend on using, get a few friends to go to a quiet channel then try each mic and ask yer friends which one they think sounded the best.
thats what i used to do and lots of other people do as well.
you can always use the mics that didnt sound so good on other radios maybe they will sound better on something different or you can easily sell them .
thats about the only way to know which mic is the best for that paticular radio.
no one can really say which is the best base station mic.
for example, a d104 SILVER EAGLE might sound great on galaxy saturn turbo but, might not sound as good on another galaxy saturn turbo where as a turner plus 3 might., no 2 radios are identical. no 2 mics are identical, its all about experimenting and learning and enjoying the hobby.

Turner plus 3 and Turner plus 3b worked best on every radio I tried them on and matched
my voice best.

Some of my friends run modified D-104's which sound decent to me also.
But not stock D-104's which sound very tinny to me...

Exactly how I feel. Turner +3 or +3b is most universally compatible and the sound is pretty wide ranged compared to D-104 out of the box. Best out of the box CB mic in my opinion.

I now use a Cheap 48v condenser mic with XLR to a Focusrite Scarlett Solo connected to a PC via USB. PC running LiveProfessor and a wide choice of processing plug-ins. From the locals who know me, BY FAR better sounding than by Turner +3b. And that is saying a lot. Have to be careful to set the mic gain on radio real low and check the audio quality. Easy to overdrive the radio mic input if not careful. Delicate balance. From the watergates though I think it is worth the trouble. Really clean and natural sounding.

im like the sure 526t its a good clear microphone. if you want super loud with tons of background noise d.104 i also like the turner microphones, but prefer the shure 526t i have 5 of them
