Turner +2 Desk mic with no Relay/Transistor swith on bottom

Post by Hawkeye1959 »

As title states it has no switch on base and has the Midland M in the face of the mic rather than the +2 label they generally do. Should I assume this mic is going to be strictly relay switching and not intended for the newer radios? The rivet holes are where the switch is normally mounted but no hole is cut for switch.

Hello Hawkeye1959,
Welcome back. The microphone was made for Midland by Turner and the wiring is the same as a Turner mic with electronic switching, if you have a multimeter touch the shield and black, the circuit should be closed, push the PTT switch and it should open, the red is just the opposite. What radio are you wiring it for?
I see you have been a member for a little over 3 years, how about posting a intro in the "Welcome to the Forum" topic, thanks

As I mentioned I don't have it here it is available online and it would be going on either Galaxy radios or RCI. I have one wired for RCI's and think i have correct wiring for Galaxy.

The thing to remember is a relay switching mic (it would require rewiring) will not work on a electronic switching radio but an a electronic switching mic will work on both.
