Radio Tune Up

#36778

Post by 38Special »

I have an old Cobra 135 that I have been fixing up, and it just seems to be a super talker. So much so that a local guy wants to buy it, but I'm not sure I want to sell it.
I recently cleaned the rotary channel selector knob contacts with contact cleaner and it did a super job.
Is it ok to spray into the switches? Ok for the rotary volume pot? Would it be ok to use to clean the dust and dirt off of the pc board?
Do I dare peak it after all these years? I heard a horror story about the adjustment (pot) breaking because it became brittle. I don't want to modify it, just peak and tune, as it could use an alignment. TJ (Virginia 988!)

there is alot to align a radio, meters, scope ect,,,,peak and tune isn't the same thing,,,that radio will talk good with a Peak and tune, those were good talkers, well built, these radio were loud with a Turner PLUS 2 mic,, not need to cut resistors when that mic was used

AMC is R134 ALC is R130 Am Power is L3
