I have wiring diagrams that state a blue wire, but I only have shield, white, black, red. Anyone ever wire one of these to a Layayette SSB140? The plug is a DIN 5 pin. Thanks.

This topic has some information needed, basically the same but the pinout, [Please login or register to view this link] ,

Telesat SSB140
1 - white (audio)
2 - red (TX)
3 - blue (switching ground)
4 - shield (mic ground)
5 - black (TX)
Using a 4 wire mic, you need to jump pins 3 and 4.

Like I said in the other topic the radio might squeal during transmit because of sharing the mic ground.

OK I see a problem, the TUG8 is for older tube-type 4-pin CBs, the TUG9 is required(has the blue wire). Guess I'll ebay the tug8 and find a tug9.

If the D104 has a 4 pin plug on it now hopefully wired for Cobra then a cheaper approach would be to get an adapter from one of the sponsors or off the internet.

Yes, a 5-pin DIN. I wired it as stated, and a loud SQUEEL hits me when I power on the rig! I thing the audio feeds thru the mic, and linking the two grounds causes mad feedback. I bought a TUG9 on ePay and will try that. The TUG8 is in mint condition, so will post for sale here.

Yes the TUG9 mic will be better, the switch in it lets the TX/RX break before making the mic contacts eliminating the squeal.
