[quote="GOTA Go"]Okay the waiting is killing me. Driving down I 40 today kept hearing guys asking for directions getting stepped on by useless talk. Just made the wait till my radio gets here even more difficult. [/quote
IAm in the same boat waiting on my General Lee to arrive also!

that has gotta be the most aggrevating thing in the world.............someone asking for directions and then you hear someone with a big radio playing music on the radio, or just goofing off..............
i get that all the time............."there's a bear southbound at the...."...........and then the stupid music..................how aggrevating

yeah hear that................i drive a 36' flatbed trailer with a moffett on the back to make home deliveries.........sometimes the map is incorrect and that road on the map that is supposed to wrap around to another road is really a dead end---with a dead end sign about 3 houses down the road(which i will never understand)............
i say it to myself everytime too..........."thank god i'm not backing up a 53' van trailer on this little residential street."
at least i can see a bit better with a flatbed than a van

I AM A TRUCK DRIVER 48 FT FLAT. AFTER USING A BARE BONES COBRA 25 FOR 6 YEARS, I FINALLY GOT A BIG RADIO.. A GEN LEE S/W/P WITH A TEXAS STAR 350 AMP.. THE OTHER DAY WHILE IN G.R. MI ..I ASKED FOR A RADIO CHECK... A DRIVER RESPONDED THAT I BLEW HIM TO THE OTHER SIDE OF GRAND RAPIDS. ANOTHER BASE RESPONDED BY ASKING IF I WOULD TURN IT DOWN CAUSE I WAS WALKING OVER HIS BASE, & I DID OF COURSE TURN THE AMP OFF & JUST GO WITH THE GEN LEE'S RAW POWER...JUST COURTESY!!! BUT THATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SMALL RADIOS & THE BIG ONES. ALSO ONE DAY LAST WEEK WHILE IN FT WAYNE IN. ON I-69 I WAS COMING TO A 10 MILE BACKUP, DUE TO CONSTRUCTION. I GOT DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO GO AROUND & NEVER SAW THE PERSON WHO WAS GUIDING ME ALL THE WAY WITH SEVERAL TURNS THRU WINDING STREETS. WE JUST HAD CONTACT BY RADIO & WERE ALWAYS 4-7 MILES APART.. THIS COULD NOT HAVE BEEN DONE WITH MY OLD RADIO.. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW THANKFULL I WAS THAT I HAD THAT RADIO IN MY TRUCK THAT DAY. TRYING TO BACK OUT OF A STREET WHERE YOU DONT BELONG, HAULING A 49,000 LB SINGLE COIL HAS AN AFFECT ON THE NERVES. LOL
hear that with the coil..............i first started out driving flatbed trailers otr...............hauling about 90% coils..............it's no fun when you're cruisin' down the highway and then hear------BREAKCHECK BREAKCHECK BREAKCHECK!!!!!!!!!!!just about scares the bejeepers out of you................saying please stay on the truck, please stay on the truck..........lol
COIL HAULING
YEAH & DONT FORGET WHEN LOADED SUICIDE YOU KNOW THE COIL WILL BECOME A STEAMROLLER IF YA LOCK IT DOWN. THINKING DO I HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO PULL OUT THE PARK BRAKES, UNBUCKLE & JUMP OUT THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW BEFORE THIS COILS ROLLS OVER ME. LOL. AND DONT FORGET ABOUT THE SHARP CURES & OFF RAMPS WHERE YOU SEE GAURD RAILS & DIRT DUG UP WHERE DRIVERS BEFORE YOU RECENTLY OVERTURNED THERE CAUSE THEY WERE GOING TOO FAST ON THE CURVE!!! IT'S A WHOLE DIFFERENT WORLD OUT THERE THAN IT WAS YEARS AGO...
howdy
awe you guys have it easy try driving what i drive where there are no roads just a haul road (2track) with this and turn it around then back up a mile around curve's and that .
but all and all it's tough out there on the road people just don't look pass there windshield anymore.[/url]<a href="[Please login or register to view this link]" target="_blank"><img src="[Please login or register to view this link]" border="0" alt="Free Image Hosting at [Please login or register to view this link]" /></a>

yep.. that off road stuff is not fun either. i used to haul 13.6 ft. top heavy loads of pipe to job sights where there were no roads. i remember one place where you could not turn around once you got to the unloading spot. the policy was they would hook up chain to backhoe & bumper of trailer & lift up & totally turn you around to face opposite direction. i didnt like it , but had no choice if i wanted out. now i run mostly north to mi & back south to al.. though you know how it is on the highways... any tangling with a 4 wheeler & it's the truck drivers fault...
