hi guys !!!!! nice to be here ,,,,,,,,,, i have a question ,,,,,, i have a astatic t ug 8 mike ,,,, i plugged it in to my cobra 19 ultra lll and all it did was knock down tha volume !!!!! do i need a new cartrige ???? any help would HELP !!!! thanks mike

You need a radio with Mic Gain for that Microphone...Or get a D 104 that is amplified....You might be able to go inside the radio and adjust the modulation and get better results too.

I'm not sure what you mean by "knock down tha volume", an Astatic TUG8 stand mic is amplified unless someone removed the board. Check the battery, dirty contact in the switch, and make sure it's wired correctly for a Cobra 19 Ultra III.The element in the mic head wouldn't go bad unless it was tampered with or left out in the weather.

The cobra 19 uses a high impedance microphone and I think that's why some aftermarket mics don't always work well with them. I believe the stock mic is 1000 ohms where most other radios are 500-600. I have never ran a D104 on a cobra 19 but I have found that some aftermarket mics just don't work as good as the stock mic.
