I am going to purchase a new 10K today, which one would be best to mount on the trunk or the roof of a 2005 Grand Marquis?

9" works good, single coil, long whip is more forgiving with hitting trees ect,,,

YEAH BIG GUNS I HAVE TO AGREE WITH BIGBOPPER! I HAVE THE 27" 10K I BELIEVE, MOUNTED ON TOP OF A 2000 SILVERADO AND MAN I WACK ALOT OF TREES!!! I GUESS I'M GOING TO HAVE TO GET A TOOL BOX AND MOUNT IT ON THAT! I HAVE A STAKE BED MOUNT NOT SURE IF I WANT TO USE IT! THE TOOL BOX WOULD BE MORE PRACTICAL FOR MANY THINGS! GOOD LUCK ON YOUR PURCHASE AND YOU DEFINITELY TELL A DIFFERENCE! 10K HAS GREAT EARS & GET OUT FURTHER FOR SURE!

I have a 9 with duel coils on one truck. Makes the whip shorter and we dont hit as many trees with that.

Has anyone put one of the 10k's on a big truck? I suppose the shorter double coil would be best. Wouldn't it?

Bigbopper, I forgot to that you in my previous post, so thank as always you are a huge help. I have already called sparkys and ordered the launchpad trimag mount and 2 twelve foot lengths of RG-8x coax. AL at sparkys is a great guy to deal with.

Running a 12 inch single coil on a trimag on my truck. Really works well and seems to not move any.

I just put one on my 2006 Frieghtliner last month and love it. I went with the 12 inch shaf, so I could get the dual coils above the roof line. By time I set the SWR's The whip was pretty short. But it worked out great. from ground level to tip of whip is 13 ft. 6 inch. Legal height.

I DRIVE A BIG TRUCK. HAVE THE 10-K WITH THE 27" IT WACKS A LOT OF TREES WHEN ON THE 2 LN ROADS. THOUGH ON MINE I HAVE IT TILTED FOWARD QUITE A BIT SO THAT IF I'M ON A BACK ROAD & NOT MOVING FAST IT HANGS LOWER. REDUCING THE HITS. WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IT STANDS STRAIGHT UP. I DRIVE A CABOVER TRUCK SO MINE IS ABOUT 13.10 FT. BUT I GET OUT OVER 13 MI SLAMMING!!
