Workman Superstar DM-452
How many of you guys own one of these mics? Seems like it's a very popular item. What's your opinion of it overall? Yeah, I just bought one.

Re: Workman Superstar DM-452
I have used one on a couple different radios, I didn't see any problem but did have a wire (TX) break free in the plug, fixed and worked fine afterwards. I don't care for echo so adjusted it (two VR's inside) to the minimum and hot glued the slider on the front of the mic, used the radio's mic gain to adjust the modulation. I think it's a good mioc for the price.

For the price and reputation, I couldn't resist. Replacing the stock mic on a Uniden pro520xl in my car. I always heard good things about this combination, anything is better than that short corded stock mic.

The 4 pin model will plug right in. If D14 in the radio was clipped you will need to reconnect it so the radio doesn't over modulate.

Re: Workman Superstar DM-452
Not a great mic overall in my opinion, no offense intended; prone to oscillation, and basic echo / reverb. If you want echo, use a quality mic with a decent echo board in the radio, or the RF Limited 2018 Extreme.
But if set right hopefully it works out for you. I've had a DM-452 for near 15 years and haven't used it in 10, have no plans to either.

Re: Workman Superstar DM-452
I think I have a couple (parts) laying around, give a ways that the original owner didn't want or messed it up, most have had holes drilled in the case so they could play with the VR's. Personally once you set it to the way you like it leave it alone, the pots weren't made to be continuously turned.
