What Club Had These Patches?

#371159

Post by MightyWhitey »

Does anyone remember the name of the national club that had these patches? It was back in the early 70's. When you joined you'd get a certificate and this patch to put on your club jacket, as well as a number that you'd go buy on the radio. All I can find anymore is this patch.

I didn't start in the radios until the late seventies. I wish they still had clubs like that though. I was a member of a couple in the late 70's and early 80's. Nationwide skip shooters comes to mind.

I have seen that patch before but don't remember it being linked to any particular club. I joined several back in the day, they all sent some type of certificate and patch, probably have one like it.

Maybe a "club" isn't an accurate definer. They were a "CB ARRL" of sorts, without the civic responsibilities or a magazine. "Send us $10 and we'll send you a certificate worthy of framing and a patch!" I know I've got the certificate around here somewhere. When I start cleaning up in the radio shack/office I'll probably run across it again and post a copy.

Not sure if any of the CB clubs were that organized, was a member of the National Chapter and a local chapter (Pikesville, MD) of REACT. Might try searching through old copies of CB magazine, S9, and some others, clubs always advertized in them.

I'll assume that was an attempt at humor, Johnnie, as the S9 magazine index has a large gap between 1972 and 1982. :basketball:
I'll have to say though, I'd love to see some of the products advertised in those magazines available new again. At those prices, of course!

That is the emblem of the SSB Network, started in '64 in the New York area. You sent 'em a SASE and you got your SSB number on a wallet card, a wall certificate and I guess, that patch.

Hey....

Although there is a 'gap'... The S9 mag was published during those periods.
