4 pin Cobra to 6 pin RCI?

#378349

Post by bigjames4xl »

Got a chance to pick up an older RCI2950 on the cheap and I have a 2018 4 pin mic wired for a Cobra 29. The Cobra 29 is an LXBT model and I have an adapter that allows the use of that 4 pin Cobra wired mic on the 6 pin BT Cobra. Would that adapter allow me to use the 4 pin Cobra wired mic on the 2950? I realize the channel changing function at the mic will be lost.

The wiring of the 2 radio's is basically the same as far as Transmit / Receive and Mike Audio - So you should be fine.

If it don't work, they sell 4 pin to 6 pin adapters on the auction site that will work.

Thanks!

Looks like I'll be in good shape if I decide to by the 2950.

Personally I don't care for those adapters, the just add extra weight and length to the already fragile mic jack on the radio. I would get it rewired to the 2950.

These are the type of adapters I get. "Pig-Tail", they don't put allot of stress on the radios Mic jack or stick out too far. I have a 4 to 6 pin one I use on my Uniden 680 in the Toyota, and a 4 to 5 pin one I use with my Cobra 2000 GTL.

That looks like the way to go! Did you make that or is there a vendor for it?

There's vendors for them on flea-bay and some of the sponsor's here on the forum probably has them.
