President Grant 2 "Automatic Squelch" Pot help
Does anyone know of an adjustment in the Grant II to make the "Automatic Squelch" a little more sensitive to weaker stations? I love the idea that this squelch only opens when it 'hears' and actual station, but it really missed a lot of them....even some of the strong ones! Is there a Pot/VR to adjust specifically for it?
Cheers n'beers!!
Richie.

I found a schematic for it and it is hard to read. looks like it could be VR6. at 1st I thought it was vr8 but I found another vr that was marked VR8. the 6 looks like a 8. so not sure could not find an actual service manual for it.maybe some one else will have better luck finding it.

Hello trailertrash,
Welcome to the forum. The "ASC" circuit is sensitive, it uses an AGC like in ham radios. It is designed to keep out the little pops and clicks from opening the squelch, adjusting it will just make those sounds annoying. If you think your missing anything just run the regular squelch set above the noise level and not the ASC.

Have you got one of the newer grant 2 radios?
The first ones had issues with electrical type pops on SSB receive. Signal meter would go from no signal to maxed out for no reason with a "lightning type pop" it was very annoying. I've got a video on here somewhere showing the issue. There is supposed to be a newer version which eliminates this problem. I was going to wait awhile before buying another one.
