New Base radio
Hello,
Im looking to upgrade my base radio. I have it narrowed down to the galaxy Dx98VHP or the RCI 2770N2. I like to talk both AM and SSB. I have a Silver Eagle for AM and a TUP special with a 10 DA head for SSB. I love the AM audio on the Galaxy, but don't like the SSB drift and lack of 6th digit. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Re: New Base radio
for talking SSB I would go with the RCI radio. it does not have the wild audio the galaxy has but is a good talking radio for sure.

Re: New Base radio
It would be the 2970N2 for me as well, more stable and doesn't have the unnecessary junk, you can even forget it has a RB button. Both run about the same price but you will be happier with the RCI. BTW, GI Joe's has them both for a good price, tell him CBRT sent you.

Re: New Base radio
I'm leaning toward the RCI since I talk more side band. Thanks again.

Agreed on the RCI radio - my Galaxy Base used to drift on sideband too so I boxed it up. Good luck.

Depending on your budget and taste, if you already have a good AM rig, check out a bargain used hf rig. They are hard to beat on sideband and features for the money these days.

Re: New Base radio
So I finally purchased the RCI 2970n2 and all I can say is wow. I have a silver eagle I use for am and a 10-DA head on a TUP 9 stand for ssb. I sold my DX 95T on Craig's List to help fund the new radio.
