Drift is easy fix...couple new temp.compensating caps in the right spot and relocate VFO board clean bandswitches good now solid as a rock after warmup.120W on 11M from a pair of 6HF5's and 140-150 minimum on all other bands....awesome transmit audio man..also tweaked AGC for nice easy listenen

Yes I did that cap mod on my Siltronix 1011C, takes about 10 minutes of warm up and then it only drifts a few hz, keep it inline with a frequency counter.

Got an old PAL VFO converted to LCD readout for the Mk.IV.Just have to clean up the face with a piece of smoked plexi. These are very stable VFO's especially since you remove the bulb when you rework them...less drift shorter warm up.Should look ok when done

Ok... here is where I get dumb.... really quick!!!!
If you are going to tie an external VFO into say a desktop CB (for experimental purposes into a dummy load only!!! ;) )
DO you have to account for any kind of offset in the mix inside the radio..... or does it just depend on the radio and where you have to inject it???

These cheap Chinese counters allow you to select your I.F....I believe for the Mk.IV I set it up for lower offset freq. 5645...then it adds the vfo freq and away you go... sadly this one is generating noise which disrupts the internal S/S pll etc. causing a pulsing counterlike noise.Have tried different caps on the input for better isolation but still workin to get rid of it.Mite need a small buffer amp in between ....when time permits I will try that
