Just picked up a Cobra HG M75 power mic. Seems to be a little weak on modulation, but luckily there is a simple upgrade for it. As soon as i get it done, i will let you all know.

So i wasn't happy with the HG M75, even after the mods. So i decided to give the Superstar DM-1000 Tornado a try. Could not be happier with it. It's not only a power mic, but also has echo feature. Very happy

Just stuck in yesterday, and already lovin it!

Besides my Uniden Microphones working just fine with it, the other thing that is really kinda cool, is the SWR-check feature...Has a tone instead of a meter to check the SWR...IMO "ALL" radios should have this!

Cool, 295. Looks good.

I just got a Gray 300 Bi-Linear Amp, myself. Gotta put a couple wires on it to hook it up.

Best wishes for exciting transmissions with that Sonar on there.

Mike

I think more like police cars. My brother forgot to put it in the box of stuff he picked up for me, so I don't have it yet.

I just got a D & A Raider from the '70's.

Any good suggestions on tests, tuning it and setting the band knobs for 11 meter?

I need to set the Load knob with a tiny screwdriver.

All good ideas, suggestions, recollections of uses in prior lives are appreciated.

73,

Mike

Make a post in the "Amplifier's / Power Supplies" topic, http://www.cbradiotalk.com/viewforum.php?f=19 , some of the older amp owners will read it there to give you plenty of advice.

My SDR RSP II along with the MFJ-1708 came in. Holy smokes there's a lot to go through. Started toying around with it along with watching videos. Will take me a while to figure out all of the options but I'll get there.

I've been exploring here and there and I found it to be not as difficult as I thought, actually pretty simple. Amazing software. The MFJ-1708 is performing great too.

About a week and a half or two ago, somebody in my town posted an announcement of a garage sale on Facebook. For a laugh, I asked back "any old CB radio gear?". No answer.
Yesterday about 20 minutes before "go home" time, my daughter in law texted me. A friend of hers saw my message, contacted my DIL and told her that her husband had a CB that "would not power on" that I could just HAVE. Sounded interesting....

Turned out to be pretty much a "new in the box" Realistic TRC-57. That is a PLL based 23 channel SSB base from I don't KNOW when. When I went to pick it up he said that the clock came on but, when he works the volume control... there is no "snap" that suggests the switch is working... so that was my bet.

Took it home, opened the case, and it smells like brand new electronics inside that thing. Whatever is wrong... I am guessing that it was wrong from the beginning... and it never got installed or used.

Jumpered across the tabs on the switch on the back of the volume control... the thing jumped alive. I had no antenna so didn't hear any signal.... but it was bright and loud with RF background noise.

I am busy looking for a replacement control (and having a devil of a time!) but I'd like to fix it right.

I NEVER have luck like this!!!!!!

Still open to any sources in the US ... but found on Ebay, dual gang, single shaft (RIGHT SIZE!) 10K 10K with switch.... they are on the way, along with some decent shielded audio interconnect cable so I can put it in clean....
