Weird clicking sound
Weird clicking sound
This is on my Galaxy DX959. It seems to have some kind of clicking going on. Happens about every second or so. I did talk to some one the other day, they didn't say anything about. So i guess they couldn't hear it. So maybe it's just a Rx problem. Hope this video works.

Re: Weird clicking sound
Nice to have a video showing the problem. Did this just start? Might want to try a different power supply first and see if that is the problem. Looks like a 60 cycle tick.

This is hooked to my Megawatt S-350. Now it is better some days than others. And it is definitely worse on ssb. Not sure if that changes your analysis. Oh, and i don't have another supply. Just thought of something else. My 29ltd is hooked to the same supply, it doesn't make that sound.MDYoungblood wrote: August 27th, 2018, 8:14 pm Nice to have a video showing the problem. Re: Weird clicking sound
you say it stops when you disconnect the antenna? Your antenna is "passive "on receive so it must be something around you . Around me on channel 13 i have a high pitched tone that nobody else in the area is getting so flip around the channels and see if it changes. Also do you have a meter you can check the output on the power supply.
Keep smiling ...It makes people wonder what your up too !

Re: Weird clicking sound
It is pretty consistent on all the channels. my supply is set right at 13.8 v. But my cobra doesn't do it. Maybe a ground issue?295 antenna wrote: August 27th, 2018, 9:40 pm you say it stops when you disconnect the antenna? Your antenna is "passive "on receive so it must be something around you . Re: Weird clicking sound
I'm guessing your kidding. How in the world would that effect me. And why doesn't it cause trouble with my other antenna. Although it is inside the house.jon6667 wrote: August 28th, 2018, 9:41 am i get the same noise on mine. its the pot grower across the street. its on a timer

Re: Weird clicking sound
You aren't hearing it on the Cobra because of the difference in the receive circuitry of the radios. I can say jon's suggestions are accurate, a local here is having a problem with his neighbor's security cameras and another gets interference from a neighbor's solar system when it switches to reserve power at night. Neither company involved wants to correct these problems.

Re: Weird clicking sound
With my antenna outside now. Is there anything i should be doing with where the cable screws to the antenna. Does it need to be wrapped or anything like that. Not sure if water can get in or not.

Re: Weird clicking sound
All of the outside connections need to be waterproofed. I use a gel compound that is applied inside the connector to keep moisture from forming then self sealing electrical tape on the threads and connector.
