Galaxy 66v2
Need Galaxy 66v2 11 meter conversion mod. The older 66v model does not have the same conversion as the newer 66v2 model. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Re: Galaxy 66v2
I personally haven't done one but I believe it is the same as a DX86V. I would look it over and see if I'm right, like I said I'm not sure.
Remove the screws on the speaker side of the case, with the face toward you there is a small PCB on the left, remove the screw and lift it gently. You should see a connector not hooked up, on the small PCB is a jack to plug it into. Next you need to remove a solder joint that is jumping (shorting I think it is marked "H" on the component side) across 2 solder tabs, this is on the solder side of the small PCB, remove that jumper carefully. Check all your work before hooking it up to power.
Doing this mod is at your own risk.

Re: Galaxy 66v2
Greg, thanks for your reply. I saw on you tube how to convert the 86v and you are correct on that, but the 66v2 looks like the 55f inside instead of the 86v with the black jumper wire on the top side board of the radio. The 66v2 has the small board just like the 86v but there is no connector that is not hooked up, nor is there an extra place to plug one in . I did the conversion for the 55f but it didn't work . Still looking for the mod for the 66v2 if anyone can help.

Re: Galaxy 66v2
I looked at CB Tricks and they have a version 2 listed under "frequency mod", look at that and see if it might work as well.

Re: Galaxy 66v2
Greg, thanks for continuing to search for this problem. If you are talking about cbtricks 66v my board does not look like this board. There doesn't seem to be any bridge soldering on my board at all. I hope you can come up with the magic mod. I have searched and searched. Watch this video on the conversion of the 86v and the 55f. This guy states that the 66v2 is the same conversion as the 66v2.
I have tried it but no luck.

Re: Galaxy 66v2
This is the only thing I've found,
Galaxy 66V
Channel Expansion Version 1
1) Open up your radio.
2) Find the small circuit board on the left of the radio.
3) Cut the green wire and tape it off.
4) There is an unplugged connector by this board..plug it in.
5) Reconnect the plug to the board.
6) That's it. You now have 8 bands, Channels 25.165-28.755.
Channel Expansion Version 2
Remove bottom cover.
On the left side of the radio (Front panel facing you) look for a red wire on the small pc board. (foil side up)
Unsolder this wire at both ends and dispose of it.
Be certain that the solder pads, from which the wire was removed, are soldered correctly.
Remove the screw holding the board onto the chassis.
On the top side of this board (component side-which was down) there is a row of pins with nothing plugged into it.
There will be a matching plug close by that is lying loose.
Plug it onto the row of pins and replace the screw holding the board to the chassis.
The radio will now work on the cb band.
You probably will have to give the seller a call or email and ask if he will tell you the conversion trick. If he does please post it for others to follow, thanks.
