from what I remember they are wired like the old 5 pin radio shack or sears road talkers.

Hello lop ice,
Welcome to the forum. The Colt 220 CB was just a plain Jane radio but did have an RF gain. The mic wiring is,
1 - audio
2 - transmit
3 - mic ground (shield)
4 - switching ground
5 - receive
You didn't say what mic you were wiring to it so I gave you the basic.
