Getting ready to re-cap Dak 10
Getting ready to do a recap on my Dak 10. My first recap on a circuit board (I did a comstat 25A a while back, thanks for the help guys) so any tips or advice is very welcome. I got my caps for the comstat at antique radio supply but they don't have many Radial caps there. Where's a good place to get them? What is a good name brand to get? Are lelon's any good? Thanks for any help!

What does this have to do with recapping a Dak 10? Not the topic here. If this was a brand new radio and unopened by the sponsor how were they to know it had problems? If you have a problem with one of the sponsors you should take it up with them or PM one of the mods on the forum.johnny cat wrote:If I was the owner of this forum I would fire one of them for the shoddy workmanship on sending out a brand new radio with so many things wrong with it that should have been taken car of before it was mailed out for the money I paid for it.redlght wrote:try the sponsors section
galaxy95Tman, as far as getting caps your best bet is to use internet and find an electronic supplier you will be happy with, most catalogs are online, some require a minimum purchase amount and some the shipping is usually more than the parts. If you check out some of TheCBDoctor's posts, he does a lot of recapping info that would help. Most of the caps that need replacing will be those 10v caps, most of the bigger ones should be fine unless they have signs of swelling or leakage. I hope you have a manual with the parts list, it will make getting what you need easier.

Re: Getting ready to re-cap Dak 10
Just my opinion, and I realize this is an old thread. DAK's are one of my passions. I own a Mark IV and a Mark X, both bone stock/restoration and both in good working condition. Honestly I ALWAYS recap anything that uses tubes, and most of my solid state radios. With the older radios, its just a good idea, old caps are not as efficient and can cause a problem if they loose thier fluid. In solid state radios its especially important to replace all the low voltage caps, ie. 10v. When replaced with 16v or higher, they allow the radio to work much better and most times can increase output audio quality as well as RX audio quality. Just my 2 cents!!
