Did I hurt my radio by being dumb??

Alright, I had my radio installed Saturday. I was using it and started to I question if the shop adjusted the antenna properly.i wasn't sure if the radio shop I had it installed at was appreciative of the 1.3 SWR for the antenna. I went to rat shack and purchased an SWR meter. I did a bunch of work Sat and I finally had a chance to attach the radio to the SWR meter late in the evening. in my tiredness, I accidently attached the leads incorrectly on the back of the radio (I attached the transmitter cable to the antenna connector and the antenna cable to the transmitter connector) and began to try and adjust the calibration. As soon as I saw the calibration was not working properly, I knew something was wrong. I looked at the back of the meter and saw I had a DUH moment. i readjusted the connections and then I was able to calibrate the meter correctly and fond my SWRs was in proper range.

My question is, did I damage my radio by hooking it up improperly and keying the mic to attempt to calibrate? The radio seems to transmit and receive fine, but I wanted to make sure I didn't damage anything by being an idiot. And how will I know if i did any damage? BTW, I have a SWP general Lee. Thanks in advance!!

My answers not based on technical knowledge, just logic. I would think that aside from having a simple test unit as an SWR meter in line, you were still connected from radio to antenna. I don't see where you risked damaging your radio. I sure some of the more knowledgable members will chime in shortly.

Not likely. All it will do is give you false readings. :D

PHEW! For a second there I felt like an idiot! I was thinking, "Great, I just put down $$$ on a SWP General Lee from ***Censored***, got it installed and I just possibly messed it up so it has to go right back to Mike." I haven't even had a real chance to test out its might. I was supposed to go to the woods the other day with my father in law, but that didn't happen. So now I need to find some time to get on the interstate to see how well I can broadcast (darn all of the interference in the city!).

Thank you for letting me know that by being dumb I didn't damage anything!
