President Lincoln 5 pin to 4 pin mic
I would like to use a 4 pin Astatic 636L mic on my Lincoln. I wanted to just solder the 5 pin onto the 4 pin mic but I’m having trouble finding the proper wiring. I know the Lincoln only uses 3 wires for the mic while the other 2 are for the channel up and down. So how does one wire a 4 pin to only 3? Any help would be appreciated.

Need to know which Lincoln it is, new model or old. Changing out the plugs is pretty simple. Most 4 pin Astatic mic's, the audio shield (-) and blue wire (switching ground) are together as they are both grounds, the white mic is always the audio (+), red is the transmit (PTT) and black is the receive. The yellow wire is normally never used. Look closely to the plug end, you will see they are numbered positions.
If the radio is a 5 pin (newer ones are 6 pin), the wiring should be:
1- white
2- shield and blue
3- red
the rest are not used but should be insulated from making contact inside the plug.

No the first generation Lincoln is kin to the Uniden HR2510 and HR2600, they are only 4 pin mic plugs.

You might try a 5 pin to 4-pin adapter that is wired for Uniden/Cobra radios... I use a 5 pin to 4 pin adapter on my Cobra 2000 GTL so I can use my 4 pin Mic's and they work just fine...
I also use a 6 pin to 4 pin adapter on my Uniden President McKinley radio so I can use 4 pin Mic's it also works just fine...
They are not that expencive, and are easier to use than trying to re-wire Mic's every time you want to use a different one...
One side note..."IF" you buy one off the auction site...don't buy the "Pig-tail" 5 pin to 4 pin adapter that says it works with Cobra's (these usually are sold from a China dealer) they don't work! I have two of them, and they are not wired for Cobras as advertised) pig-tail is a adapter that has a piece of coax between the two connectors...

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

It’s definitely not the President Lincoln II. It says President Lincoln on the front and has a 5 pin micMDYoungblood wrote: ↑Feb 10 2019, 11:09No the first generation Lincoln is kin to the Uniden HR2510 and HR2600, they are only 4 pin mic plugs.

Sorry,, I stand corrected. The Uniden HR2510/2600 and the President Lincoln of the same branding were 5 pin jacks. The wiring I stated is the same.acethunder wrote: ↑Feb 11 2019, 06:40It’s definitely not the President Lincoln II. I had a couple come to me to be worked on and the jack was replaced with a 4 pin, wired for Cobra/Uniden. The owner kept breaking off the jack because he was using an adapter.
