Coax Question

I have a question that pertains to some coax that I already have and would like to know if it is still useable. I have 2 50’ lengths of Reeder rg 8/u low loss foam coax that i acquired years ago. It has been stored for the past 40 years and still looks and feels good. I am putting up a Big Stick 20’ up to the base of the antenna, so the length will work, I just wasn’t sure if it can go bad while being stored. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

last I checked...coax doesn't have a expiration date on it...

As long as it was stored inside a dry location, it should be good to go.

Some coax, the foam insulation does degrade over time, always best to check it.

If it looks good, it will probably be fine.

I used two 20ft lengths of Tandy RG 8/U that looked ancient, but it got the job done for years, I should still have it around here somewhere, but it was old when I got it 20 years ago.

Thank you all for the responses. I removed the connectors and cut about 6” off of each end and everything still looks good, no signs of corrosion and the foam is still pliable. The next step is to install new connectors and put it in service. Thanks again for the help.

As long as the outer jacket isn't cracked and it still remains flexible - I would use it all day long
