Inside looked pretty good. The cord had gangreen from the plug on up. Ordered a replacement cable, wired it up, and added a fresh battery. Works great!

I have been using the same TUP stand "Silver Eagle" D104 since it came out in 1977. I have modded it with an electret mic element and the base has 2 momentary micro button switches for the up/down feature on the radio.

That's a good idea. I thought about adding a momentary switch to bypass the one on the handle so my lazy butt wouldn't have to reach up. :-) They don't have a lot of value so drilling a hole in the base wouldn't be throwing away a lot of money.
