RCI63FFD4 for a base?
Just was curious what people’s thoughts are before making a decision, it was either the rci 63, or the galaxy 98, or should I just get a radio barefoot and just get the amp separate?

This is a toss up of how much is in your wallet. The Galaxy is the cheaper route, the power supply is smaller but the output is too. Both are mosfet radios, the Ranger is using a new single high power mosfet where the 98VHP is still the 8x 520 board. Either will need a decent power supply and don't scrimp there.

I have a mega watt s 700, it’s 50 amps continuous, I know that’s enough for the galaxy, not sure about the ranger

Thats enough for the Ranger. I lean toward the Ranger if going SSB, if only using AM it does not really matter.

Yes it would be plenty for the Galaxy radio but it depends on if the Ranger is an older model using 4x 2879's or the new model using the RT-1 mosfet. The older Ranger with a little bit of tweaking would overwhelm the 50A solid state power supply.

Cool,, like Lost Ram, I would go with the SSB just because I like SSB. The thing with mosfet transistor is they like good SWR, start getting above 2:1, they have a tendency to overheat and pop. I am looking at that amp board for in my 2995DX.
